-С. П. Біологія – наука майбутнього?

-Г. Є. Біологія – це цікава і надважлива фундаментальна наука, яка досліджує життя у всіх формах його прояву та на всіх рівнях організації – від молекули до біосфери. У  ХХІ сторіччі, яке визнано сторіччям біології, ця наука активно інтегрується з інформаційними та нанотехнологіями, що визначає перспективи подальшого виживання людської цивілізації та впливає на якість життя сучасної людини.

-С. П. А раніше хіба не так було? Чому сьогодні такий підвищений інтерес виник?

Г. Є. Біологічні науки сьогодні, як ніколи, за допомогою новітніх технологій досліджень стають основою багатьох галузей людської діяльності, маючи особливий вплив на медицину, сільське господарство та охорону природи, а подальший прогрес біології забезпечить для людства й успіхи у подоланні хвороб, розв’язанні продовольчої кризи та проблем довкілля, збереженні біорізноманіття планети, підвищенні ефективності виробництва.

С. П. То, мабуть, тоді й на ринку праці сьогодні особливо затребувані спеціалісти у глобальному біологічному аспекті?

Г. Є. У сучасних динамічних реаліях виникає потреба в новому типі вищої освіти, яка була б конкурентоздатною на європейському рівні, сприяла би  мобільності на ринку праці та формуванню компетентних спеціалістів. Саме такою є вища біологічна освіта, яка є рушійною силою соціально-економічного розвитку країн та визнана пріоритетною в усьому світі і, зважаючи на бурхливий розвиток природничих наук, спонукає людину до навчання протягом усього її життя.

С. П. Отже, професія біолога виходить на неабиякий престижний сучасний рівень?

Г. Є. Так, це особливо стає помітним у наш час. Біолог – надзвичайно престижна й успішна професія, яка надає широкі можливості працевлаштування у різних сферах науки, освіти і виробництва, а професійна підготовка компетентних фахівців-біологів є сьогодні як ніколи актуальною не тільки в регіональному, але й у глобальному аспектах.

С. П. То кафедра біології у ПДМУ сьогодні готує саме таких фахівців?

Г. Є. Це дуже насичений і цікавий навчальний процес у Полтавському державному медичному університеті. Тут започатковано підготовку здобувачів вищої освіти за освітньо-професійною програмою «Біологія»: із 2022 р. – освітнього рівня «Бакалавр», а з 2023 р. – освітнього рівня «Магістр». У 2024 році успішно пройшла акредитацію ОПП «Біологія» другого (магістерського рівня вищої освіти. У 2025 році планується вже проведення акредитації першого (бакалаврського) рівня вищої освіти.

З нетерпінням чекаємо на поповнення студентів. Повірте, це не тільки актуально, а й надзвичайно важливо і цікаво сьогодні!

On the relevance of higher biological education: it's not only fascinating but also crucial!

(Interview with the Head of the Department of Biology at PSMU, Professor Halyna Yeroshenko)

– S. P.: Is biology the science of the future?

– H. Y.: Biology is a fascinating and fundamentally important science that studies life in all its forms and at all levels of organization — from molecules to the biosphere. In the 21st century, which has been recognized as the century of biology, this science is actively integrating with information and nanotechnologies. This integration defines the prospects for the continued survival of human civilization and directly impacts the quality of life of modern people.

– S. P.: But hasn’t that always been the case? Why is there such heightened interest today?

– H. Y.: Today, more than ever, biological sciences — empowered by cutting-edge research technologies — form the foundation of many areas of human activity. They play a vital role in medicine, agriculture, and environmental protection. The ongoing progress in biology promises breakthroughs in combating diseases, solving the global food crisis and environmental challenges, preserving biodiversity, and increasing production efficiency.

– S. P.: So, I suppose biology professionals are especially in demand in today’s job market, particularly from a global perspective?

– H. Y.: Absolutely. In our dynamic reality, there is a growing need for a new type of higher education that is competitive at the European level, fosters labor market mobility, and prepares competent specialists. That’s exactly what higher biological education provides. It’s a driving force for the socio-economic development of nations and is considered a global priority. With the rapid development of natural sciences, it also encourages lifelong learning.

– S. P.: So, the profession of a biologist is becoming increasingly prestigious today?

– H. Y.: Yes, this is especially evident now. Being a biologist is a highly prestigious and successful career path, offering broad employment opportunities across science, education, and various industries. The professional training of skilled biologists is more relevant than ever — not only on a regional scale but also globally.

– S. P.: And the Department of Biology at PSMU is training exactly such specialists?

– H. Y.: The educational process at Poltava State Medical University is both intensive and exciting. Since 2022, we have been training students in the "Biology" educational and professional program at the bachelor’s level, and since 2023 — at the master’s level. In 2024, our master's program successfully passed accreditation. In 2025, we plan to undergo accreditation for the bachelor’s program as well.

We are eagerly awaiting new students! Believe me, this path is not only relevant but also extremely important and exciting today.
