The Department of Ukrainian Studies and Humanities (headed by Associate Professor T.O. Leshchenko) held a traditional cultural and artistic event devoted to the 248th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Petrovich Kotlyarevsky (1769-1838), a Ukrainian writer, the founder of the Ukrainian literary language ("The Great Singer of Ukraine", "The Poet, the Innovator and the patriot ";" The Classics of New Ukrainian Literature ").

The curators of the department (V.I. Vladimirova, K.V. Degtyareva, O.M. Shevchenko, T.V. Tukova, G.M. Kozub) together with the 1st year of the Faculty of Dentistry (groups 1,3,6,7,8) conducted a walking tour "The Roads of Ivan Kotlyarevsky". Foreign students of the 5th year of the Faculty of Dentistry also joined the event. During the tour the students visited the monument to I.P. Kotlyarevsky, the memorial museum of the writer, the museum estate, and also the burial place of the great classic of Ukrainian literature, the initiator of the Ukrainian literary language.

Ivan Kotlyarevsky is an unsurpassed writer, the initiator of the new Ukrainian literature. This is one of those people who made our city famous. It was Ivan Kotlyarevsky who was the first to be able to realistically recreate life, the spiritual beauty of working people, and widely used the richness of oral folk art. His works are immortal, unique, always relevant, and especially today, when the Ukrainians really need a patriotic spirit.
